Beyond the Classroom

Soaring Heights Charter School prides itself on being an institution where children not only excel academically, but also become well-rounded individuals.   Soaring Heights places a strong emphasis on bridging the school community and the larger Jersey City community. This is achieved through programs like the annual Health Fair, the Welcome Back BBQ, Thanksgiving Food Drive, holiday caroling, and the Christmas Eve Breakfast.  By creating strong ties within the community, Soaring Heights has been able to positively impact the lives of many throughout Jersey City.

Operation Stuff the Truck

Since 2004, SHCS students young and old have enthusiastically engaged in collecting perishable and non–perishable food items to feed the needy right here in Jersey City on Thanksgiving Day. As in many years past, turkeys, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy and so much more will be given to True Gospel Holiness Church, where the parishioners will cook and serve it to members of the congregation and community.

The truck is always filled to overflow as it departs from the school. It is comforting to know that giving and generosity have not lost their place in the heart of Greenville.

Back to School BBQ

It was a perfect fall day to have the Soaring Heights Welcome Back BBQ. After our extended summer weather, the cool temps ushered in an annual tradition of fried chicken, custard pies and good times. It was great to see everyone enjoy themselves, have fun… and no homework!

Christmas Eve Breakfast

A tradition that has been held since 1997, brings together the staff, alumni, students and their families for a day of food, fun and laughter. This breakfast offers a great meal and a great opportunity to catch up with teachers and friends old and new.

The Spring Auction

Every spring, Soaring Heights hosts a tricky tray auction open to families, friends, and members of the community. For a minimal admission fee, guests are treated to complimentary tickets, lunch, and dessert. At the auction, tickets are sold for big items like TVs, class baskets, and trips to faraway destinations. There is also a 50/50 raffle where the winner takes home a large cash prize. Soaring Heights continues to raise more and more money each year, which is used serve its students.

Walk For Education

Every year in June our students and staff rally together for the annual Education Walk-a-Thon.
